More to come!
2/10/2026 Foothold Twin Cities update!
Thanks to your generous support, we have helped 62 families so far this year! Thank you all!

Families work hard each and every day, we’re here to help them keep their foothold!
The process:
Referrals for families in financial crisis are accepted from a variety of professionals in health care, social work, and school districts throughout the greater Twin Cities. Once the referral paperwork is filled out, trained volunteers will be in touch to provide emergency monetary aid to qualifying families. This aid is used to pay a bill directly to the source of the financial crisis, most often rent or utilities.

About Us
Foothold Twin Cities is a non-profit organization founded and operated by Minneapolis locals.
100% of cash donations are used to pay bills for families.
Foothold was founded in 2014 by Terry Walsh and Amber Lampron
Amber’s experience working with the Richfield school district showed both Terry and Amber that no matter how hard some families worked, when a financial crisis came up it made it almost impossible for them to keep their head above water. Stopping the cycle of poverty can be as simple as paying for rent for one month.
Foothold is 100% volunteer based
Foothold positions are all volunteer, and day-to-day expenses are paid by the volunteers to help ensure that 100% of cash donations go to help families in crisis.
Foothold Twin Cities is a locally directed non-profit organization
in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Foothold Twin Cities is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code;
EIN: 47-4745843. Donors may be able to deduct contributions made to Foothold Twin Cities under IRC Section 170.
Quotes from families that we’ve helped
“Words alone cannot describe how grateful I am for what you have done for me and my family. You got our life on the right track, prevented eviction and restored our self-esteem. I used to hear ‘opportunity only comes once.’ You have made that chance by paying our rent when we had nowhere to turn. I’m forever grateful for this.”
Quotes from Referrals
“Foothold was able to help my client and her one year old daughter keep their housing. Despite working full time, and then some, being a single mom can be challenging financially. When I told her that her rent was covered, she tearfully expressed what a blessing this was for her and her daughter. I am so grateful to this wonderful organization for their relentless support of people in the twin cites.”
